What is Google Analytics Used for
Google Analytics is the tool that gives you information about your Traffic. About how many people visited your website, Which pages they see on your website and how users interact on the website
With this tool, we can know
- How many people landed on the particular page through Google, Facebook, Reddit, Quora, etc.
- How in general they interact on pages or blog
- Exiting pages
- Traffic from another search engine
This information are very useful for making the Business decision.

Now let’s connect it with the tag manager
Connect Google analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager is a tag management tool that lets you install and manage your codes from outside of the website(Without touching the Source code).
This is important if you are working with a big team. Especially once you want to do tracking of button click, scrolling, or implementing tag all these features can be easily installed by GTM.
And this is my Preferred way to installing google analytics.
So how to set up google analytics with google tag manager?
Step1:- Log in with your Google account in GTM.
Step 2:- Click on Create Account
Step3:- In account Setup,
- Enter your Account Name (Company Name)
- Select the Country
- Enter the Container Name
- And choose your Target platform
Step4:- Tick the Google Tag Manager Terms of Service Agreement
And click on “YES”
Now we get two codes here that we need to install onto our website.
If you have a dev team you have to just send this code to them and they will Insert it into the head and body part of the website.
Or if you are using any CMS you can install this on your own.
And this is the only code that you want to put on your website. And after that, you can insert any tag to the website easily.
Go to the CMS Backend – Here I’m using WordPress.
Just go to the plugin and install the Insert Insert Headers and Footers by WPBeginner
Go to the plugin setting
And insert the code in Header and Body as shown in the image below.
And save the changes
GTM is now installed
Now we can deploy the Google Analytics in Google Tag Manager
Step 5:- Click on Tag and then click on New Tag
Step 6:- Click “Tag Configuration”
Under the tag configuration, the menu open(Chose tag type) which has a lot of different templates that we can utilize.
Step 7:- Click on Google Analytics: GA4 Configuration. This is the base tag that you need to install.
Step 8:- Enter your GA4 “Measurement ID” that we got from Google analytics
Step 9:- The Next Step is to click on Triggering and Choose the trigger.
Triggers are the condition when we want to deploy the tag.
Select “all pages” from “Choose a trigger” Window
We don’t have any Special Configuration here. We just want to deploy this tag on all pages that are accessible to the user.
Step 10:- The last thing that I would urge you to fill out is the name.
My naming convention is GA4 – PageView- Tag- Configuration
And save this
Step 11:- Now we can check the changes – Click on the Preview button
Enter the URL of the website and click the “START” option.
Your preview mode will open in a new tab and you see a message Degugger Connected.
Now we can check that our google analytics 4-page view tag (GA4-Pageview-Tag-Configuration) has fired correctly.
Step 12:- Now go back to the google tag manager and click on the submit.
So it goes live on our website.
Step 13:- Give the Version Name – Add a detailed description of the changes.
Step 14:- And then click on Publish.
And now it goes out to all website users.
